All The Pretty Letters

August 13th, 2008

I just ordered a special something for Amelia’s birthday next month from Danae. Check out some of the beautiful works she does.

I’m also thinking that if this guy can come up with some extra coin, a wedding map would be cool. Make that super cool.

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, We’ll Start The Day Tomorrow

I’ve uploaded some more photos that range from as soon as yesterday and as far away as 2 months ago. Here are some of my favorites.

All Amelia Photos

Amelia is now crawling and at a very fast clip. She is also in her clingy stage, meaning I can’t be out of her sight for a moment before she starts to pout and whine and crawl into the hallway looking for me.

She’s down for a nap and it is black and drizzly and cold out. Hi October! Thanks for visiting in the middle of summer! I thought as she got older I’d snap out of the funk and be more energized. Clean the bathroom! Make cookies! Come up with some clever crafty baby project she’s gaze at adoringly when she is older! What a great mom I’ll be!

Not so much. I’m thinking about taking a shower and packing her off with me to the bookstore. I occasionally leave the house, but rarely want to. She’s pretty well-behaved out and about. I just view everything as a time-consuming chore, even leisure activities, and await the time of night when I leave the dishes in the sink, the toys on the floor, and go to bed so I can lie awake for 2 hours and promise that I’ll get my ass in gear tomorrow.

I know other moms that have it so together. They don’t wonder what the hell the baby is putting into her mouth because you really can eat of the floors. They have play dates and coffee hours and their nails are done. They don’t have leaking water heater soaked rugs in the basement. They haven’t left clothes in the dryer for 2 days. All of their shirts are ironed.

They certainly don’t spend their quiet free time writing rambling blog posts.

Search This, Scurvy Dogs

I will be getting a new passport soon, and I want to put it in this holder. The Powers That Be would probably wrinkle their noses at me. The last time I flew, TSA searched the bag that I checked and left me a nice note tucked into my underwear alerting me to that fact.

So maybe I don’t care what they think. Aaarrgghhh!

Mackerelly Lives!

August 6th, 2008

For Those In The Know, I have registered mackerelly.com. It doesn’t have a site yet, but I own it. It might take a while to develop something, but I’m thinking a food site would be good. I’ll park all of my reviews there, create new “travel” food reviews, talk about the cookbook project I’m working on, and start some observations on Israeli food and drink when I get there.

I think I’ll have enough material for 2 sites and it will keep things organized, because I find myself looking through my food archives the most.

Any ideas, suggestions, etc. as I flush it out are always welcome.

PSA - Digital Equipment

July 28th, 2008

If you would like a device to take decent photos with, you might want to look into a machine called a CAMERA. There is a machine called a CELL PHONE, but you shouldn’t expect great SLR quality photos with such a machine. Anyone complaining that their CELL PHONE doesn’t take great photos like a CAMERA should, well, you people are just idiots.

Hateful comments joyfully accepted.
